Delicious food. Clean environment. Super friendly service. I didn't have a cocktail but I saw other customers order drinks and they looked amazing. Will try next time.
Place is always packed during lunchtime so get here early! Got their ground beef taco salad with everything on it. As always...soooooooo good! And their classic margarita too!
Before I write what I'm about share, just know that I'm a Mexican Food lover and snob. I grew up in Southern California mostly and developed my palette from some of the most authentic and fabulous Mexican eateries on the planet. I'll share this experience in a few ways on a scale from 1-5. Five meaning perfect, can't get enough. If it's a 4 or lower, just know that I have receipts. Despite their level, I'm not comparing this restaurant with Javier's, Newport Beach. IYKYK. Environment -3 Food quality- 3 Speed of delivery - 5 Service -5 Location/Accessibility- 4 Experience -4 Flavor - 3 Authenticity-3 Price -3 Cleanliness-4 Presentation-3 Chip and Salsa game -3 Cocktails/ Bevies - 3 I am a complete fan of the strip mall Mexican Restaurant. I love the stand alone spot too, but in the last 20-30 yrs, strip mall eateries have popped up and taken over. It seems that the further you get from The Mexican Border, the more likely you will find that your authenticity will start to fall apart: As far as I know, Seattle nor Anchorage is not famous for a Tamale nor a Burrito. Ya dig?? Now, San Diego or Pacific Beach , Ca. ??? Or even parts of San Antonio, Texas or Houston! Pick your venom ! Ok, I think you can get my point. Moving on, Overall, I like this place. It echoes what I love about some of my favorite haunts in Santa Ana, Ca and Orange County . If I were to make any suggestions, I'd recommend that the chef, taste his/her food and send it out. We ordered what you see in the picture. It was good but it wasn't mesmerizing. I found myself looking for the salt shaker and a few spoon fulls of the salsa. By the way, their chip and salsa game is a solid three out of five: Pretty damn good but I've had better. I'll go back and try some others Like many Mexican restaurants in the area I've tried, it seems like the owners try to appeal to what they think we want to cover expenses. I respect that play all day. It's short lived, however. My suggestion is find your own identity in your own flavor, honor your research and execute at a high level. We will find you and pay you for your research and work. Keep up the good work for the community and congratulations on your success. I'm not sure what your long term goals are, however I feel that you ARE on the right track and just a few minor improvements are in store for the legacy of what you set out to accomplish. I'll be back. Thank you!
It's about time I update my review! We've been coming here for many years, and we have never had a less than stellar experience here. Service is always friendly and efficient, food is full of flavor, and they are always making changes for the better! Most recent change is the dining room, specifically the chairs. We went in to eat during HH today, and the seats were super comfortable! There have been some added menu items, like the Nopal "Taco" Plate! He ordered that with asada, and it was delicious. We will definitely be ordering it again. I had the shrimp taco a la carte & fish ceviche tostada, both were great and generous portions. Their chips & salsas are fresh and flavorful as well! Their craft cocktails are FANTASTIC! Today I had a watermelon margarita ($7 on HH).
New favorite Mexican spot in Natomas! Looks fun and trendy inside! Complimentary fresh chips and salsa bar. Loved all 5 out of 5 salsas available. Service is attentive. Restaurant is clean and nice indoor and outdoor seating areas. LOVE all the food and drinks we've tried here: Mole enchiladas - YES! BEST IVE HAD! Chile verde Berry Mojito Margarita was huge! Taco de papa - perfectly crispy On the spicier side - shrimp taco, fish taco We've been here twice this week! Haha It's reasonable priced too, which is a plus! DO NOT SKIP THE CHURROS WIRH ICE CREAM! (you can thank me later!)
I lived in Natomas for most of my life and I have never visited this Mezcal Grill location - we usually go to the one closer to East Sacramento. We came in on a Friday at 8pm and the place was pretty busy, but we were seated right away. There was inside and patio seating and everything felt clean and modern. We ordered the Soft Flour Ground Beef Tacos and Crispy Chili Verde Tacos. The crispy tacos were not hot and neither was the rice and beans on either plate. The ground beef was super salty, to the point where I couldn't even finish and I like salt. Service was great and friendly, but I was not a huge fan of the food we ordered compared to the other location. I kept seeing other customers ordering the Molcajete so maybe we just ordered the wrong items. We'll give them another chance next time we're in the area!
I still can't say enough good things about Mezcal Grill as I update my review. We visit at least once a month and introduce all of our friends to this place. Everyone is always super satisfied every time we visit and we are working our way over the menu so we know what we're talking about! :D The staff is all super friendly and the service is great. We most recently visited on my husband's birthday and we shared a Molcajete - it was HUGE! And SO yummy! Wow. Still the best happy hour I've been to.
Dined in at Mezcal Grill Natomas this past week with a coworker. I really like this place. Eat at bar counter or tables. When you walk in, you order and have a seat. Food is brought to you. It's an expedient process and the restaurant had customers but it wasn't crazy busy. I love the super chill experience we had. There's a chips & salsa bar. No pico de gallo but the verde and the red sauces were good. I don't need chips anyway. There were a couple of carrot slices in with pickled jalapeños. Grabbed fresh radishes, too. Tried the shrimp taco this time. It's good. I asked for my carne asada meat in my flour taco (must order, love the fresh tortilla) to not be cooked too much. It came out perfectly. The lovely plants on the patio dining were really cool. And I'm in love with the burro and handler giant photo on the back wall.
We came in and only had to wait a minute to be seated. The service was good, but it felt like they were a person short on the crew. We put in our drink order and only had to wait a few minutes to get one of the best margaritas I have had. I'm glad I got the small, I saw a large and it would have knocked me on my rear! We started with the choriqueso, it was great in the tortilla, but it also went great with the chips. The sausage flavor was very subtle, the cheese was definitely the star of the dish. I had the Chile Relleno for my main course. Yum and yum! The batter on the chile was nice and thin, the chile could have been cooked a little longer, and the cheese blend was spectacular! Soooo hood. The beans and rice had a great flavor too. The meal was an awesome value! Great food, good service!
